Redford plays Louis, Fonda plays Addie, next- door neighbors who have each been widowed. Watch A Girl Like Her Online Free 2016. At the film’s outset, Addie approaches Louis with a proposal of sorts: they’re neighbors, they’re alone, they go to sleep in empty beds every night.
What’s the sense in that. They begin sleeping together, but not, you know, sleeping together. We know this is the beginning of a romance, because we’re watching a movie, and it’s Jane Fonda and Robert Redford, and we know how these things work. Maybe Addie and Louis deep down know where this is headed, too, but at the outset this is just a pragmatic decision. Sleep together to get through the worst part of their day: those endless, silent stretches where the only thing to keep them company are their memories. What follows is a very mellow, sometimes predictable, light romantic drama, but one which fills every inch of the frame with the combined years of Fonda and Redford’s collective screen presence.
Their nighttime conversations are about their respective spouses, their families, their regrets. The script isn’t on the level of a more captivating conversational movie like the Before Sunrise series, but it’s amazing how far Our Souls at Night gets on the gravitas of its lead performers.
Scenes with Addie and Louis’s respective family members are a mixed bag. Watch Un Homme Et Une Femme Online Hulu. Young Ian Armitage — Shailene Woodley’s son on Big Little Lies and currently the title character in Young Sheldon — plays Addie’s grandson, who enters the story as a young foil for both characters. He’s thankfully not playing up the cute- kid angle, but the surrogate family that’s formed by the three of them feels on the nose. Judy Greer is compelling as Louis’s daughter, a character who feels far more substantial than the script lets us in on. The opposite is true of Matthias Schoenaerts as Addie’s son Gene. Schoenaerts is a talented actor, but he feels out of place here, as does his early- 2. Overall, Our Souls at Night is exactly what you want it to be: an excuse to watch two legends with over 1.
